Gallivanter Community Guidelines
Gallivanter exists so people can discover events and meet up safely. These rules apply to comments, messages, community events, event comments, profiles and usernames, and are an integral part of the Terms of Service (terms-of-service.md).
Gallivanter is for people aged 16 and over only. If you believe an account belongs to someone under 16, report it with Report from the menu on their profile or write to support@gallivanter.net; such accounts are closed and their data deleted.
1. Be respectful
- Harassment, bullying, threats, degrading content and hate speech (based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar characteristics) are not allowed.
- Content that encourages violence, self-harm or illegal activity is not allowed.
- Disagree if you want, but criticize ideas, not people.
2. Put safety first
- Do not share other people's address, phone number, live location, ID or financial details without their permission.
- Content showing child sexual abuse or endangering children gets zero tolerance: the content is removed, the account is permanently closed and the matter is reported to the competent authorities.
- Non-consensual nudity, sexual content and extremely violent images are not allowed.
- Do not give a misleading place or time when creating an event. When meeting in person, follow the safety advice in Terms of Service Section 6: choose a busy, public place for a first meeting, tell someone close to you, arrange your own transport. You can open this advice any time in Settings > Safety tips.
3. Be honest
- Do not impersonate others or create fake accounts. Names such as "admin", "support" and "gallivanter" are reserved.
- Spam, scams, fake events, mass advertising and bots are not allowed.
- The verification badge is not an identity check; having one does not make a person trustworthy.
4. Photos and content
- Upload only photos you have the right to share; do not use others' copyrighted content without permission.
- Do not share photos in which other people are clearly identifiable, especially in intimate situations, without their consent.
5. Reporting and blocking
- When you see a comment, message, community event, group, event comment or user that breaks these rules, choose Report from the three-dot menu; Block anyone who bothers you.
- We review every report: the first review happens within 72 hours at the latest, and clearly illegal content or content that endangers someone's safety is removed as soon as possible. A community event or group reported by 3 different people is hidden automatically, without waiting for review.
- If there is immediate danger, call your local emergency number (112 in Türkiye); the App is not an emergency service.
- Knowingly false or malicious mass reporting is also a violation. How we handle reports of illegal content, give reasons for decisions and handle appeals is described in Terms of Service Section 5.
6. Enforcement and appeals
We decide the measure based on the severity of the violation, whether it is repeated and the harm to other users:
- Minor or first violation: the content is removed and the account holder may be warned.
- Repeated violations: certain features (e.g. creating events) may be restricted or the account temporarily suspended (usually for 7 to 30 days). A suspended account can still read content, delete its own content, block and report, and delete the account; it cannot add events or groups, comment, send messages or follow.
- Serious violations (such as child abuse, serious threats, calls to violence, exposing personal information or fraud): the content is removed immediately, the account is suspended indefinitely or closed without warning, and information is shared with the competent authorities where necessary.
You can appeal a decision by writing to support@gallivanter.net within 6 months of the decision. State your username and the decision concerned; we review the appeal and tell you the outcome within 30 days.
7. Community events
An event you add is shown in the public event lists with your profile as the organizer (even if your account is private). So:
- Add real events. Do not add events that will not take place, or fake or misleading ones (with a wrong date, venue, price or organizer). If the event is cancelled or changes, update or delete it.
- Prohibited content: illegal events and sales; events that contain or call for violence, hate or discrimination; sexual content or adult service announcements; gambling and the sale of drugs or weapons; scams, pyramid schemes and ticket scalping; announcements that contain other people's personal information or present someone else as the organizer.
- Event listings are not an ad board: do not add the same event again and again and do not promote products or services unrelated to the event. There is a daily limit, and a second event with the same name at the same venue on the same day cannot be added.
- Cover photo: use only an image you have the right to use, that reflects the event and follows these rules.
- Ticket link: link only to the event's real ticket page. The link must go to one of the ticket sales sites the App accepts; ticket sales, payment and refunds are between that site and the organizer, and Gallivanter is not a party to them.
- Responsibility: the organizer is responsible for the event's content, for holding it and for the legal obligations regarding the safety of attendees. Events that break the rules are hidden or removed and the measures in Section 6 apply.
8. Changes in this version (1.2, 28 October 2026)
- No new rules; the version number and date now match the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which you accept again together.
Earlier version (1.1, 12 October 2026)
- Added rules for community events (Section 7).
- Linked to the notice, reasons and appeal process for illegal content (Section 5).
- Added community events to the content that can be reported; an event reported by 3 different people is hidden automatically (Section 5).
