Short, step-by-step answers to common questions.

Create an account

  1. Open the app and go through the first welcome screens.
  2. Sign up with your email address.
  3. Declare your age (16 and over) and accept the terms of service.
  4. Choose your username and display name.

We never store your birth date or gender. Your interests, what you are looking for, when you are available and your university stay on your phone. All we keep is your age group (16-17 or 18+) and what you share.

Sign in with Google or Apple

On the sign-in screen you can continue with Google or Apple instead of email. These options are optional; an email account always works.

Create an event

  1. Tap the + button in the bottom bar and choose to add an event.
  2. Enter the title, date and time.
  3. Enter the venue name, address and city. You can use your location if you like.
  4. Choose the visibility: public or friends only.
  5. Publish.

Accounts aged 16-17 can only create friends-only events.

Join an event

  1. Pick an event on the Discover tab.
  2. Tap Going or Maybe.
  3. If you change your mind, change your answer at any time.

The directions button opens the address in your phone's map app.

Create a group

  1. Tap the + button in the bottom bar and choose to add a group.
  2. Write the group's name and description.
  3. Choose the privacy level: open, approval or secret.
  4. Create it.

Accounts aged 16-17 can create groups, but only groups that need approval to join or are secret (invite only); they cannot create or switch to a public (open to everyone) group.

Invite people

As a group's owner or admin you have two ways:

  • Create and share an invite link. The link expires after a while.
  • Invite someone by username. They see the invitation and can accept or decline.

Change privacy

  • Event: public or friends only.
  • Group: open, approval or secret. The owner and admins can change the level later.
  • Account: on a private account people need to send a follow request. See the privacy options in Settings.

Block someone

You can block someone from their profile. A blocked person cannot see or message you. You manage the people you blocked in the blocked users list under Settings.

Change your password

You can change your password in Settings. If you forgot it, use the password reset link on the sign-in screen.

Delete your account

You can delete your account in Settings; it asks for confirmation and cannot be undone. If you cannot reach the app, write to support@gallivanter.net from the email address registered to your account.

Verify your venue

  1. Download the app and create an account.
  2. In Settings open the Verify your organization row.
  3. Enter your business e-mail address and type the 6-digit code sent there.
  4. Wait for approval.
  5. After approval, add a cover photo, a short intro, the address, opening hours and your own website, Instagram and map links under My venue page.

General e-mail addresses such as Gmail or Hotmail are not accepted for verification.

Change the language

You can change the language in Settings. The app comes in Turkish, English, Russian, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish and Ukrainian.
